Do you have a Lexus IS? Do you use Premium fuel?

I'm looking at buying a used IS and one of the cons is the premium fuel. I've heard that the premium fuel is recommended to reach optimum horsepower and torque but the computer is smart enough to recognize when regular or mid-grade is used and can adjust the timing to prevent early ignition. Has anyone tried this? What were your results?
 
yeah it's all true about what you wrote!! I don't own a IS300 yet but have done the research since I'm going to get one in the spring time!

The cars made for Premium but can use regular...

Premium = Cost more $$$ but better gas mileage and performance!

Regular = Cost less $$$, makes the car eat more gas (poor gas mileage), and a faster way killing the engine.
