for long words? I was reading a book yesterday, and every single paragraph had to have a long, complex word in it, when an easier one would suffice. Add to that they overused every single long word they found, it was a big kick in the teeth for me because it was actually a decent story, yet the author felt compelled to use long words to make himself look intelligent.
Personally, I enjoy the occasional difficult word, but when they use redundant words such as 'crepitation' and 'sabulous' you can tell that they've gone overboard.
So, do you enjoy thesaurus abuse, or do you condemn it to a fiery demise? (or do you enjoy a happy medium, where there's a complex word every so often, but not every paragraph?)
Also, as an extra, could you name some top thesaurus abusers?
