What will it take to be like you?
Do I have to change my life? My ways?
Do I have to wear different clothes? Talk a different way?
Do I have to hate what you hate? Like what you like?

Do I have to be loud, obnoxious, discount others?
Do I have to be superficial? Close off my deeper side? So no one sees?
Do I have to talk to certain people? Leave everyone else behind? Start over new?

Do I have to lie to my parents? Make them believe I’m safe when I’m not?
Do I have to dress my best? Impress others? Believe their opinion matters?
Do I have to live life on the edge? No consequences, as long as you don’t get caught?

Well I have news; I don’t want to be like you.
I don’t want to change me, I like who I am, I am my own person.
I don’t want to have the friends you have, my friends are special to me all the same, their unique.
