Do you go fishing in the winter?

So my granddad has a fishing pond and i wanna go fishing its not snowing but really cold! But i don't wanna call him and sound like a idiot when i ask him?

So do you go fishing in the winter?
I mean besides ice fishing guys like cat fishing.
