Do you ever feel helpless against all the filth that is aired on television?

TV is horrible nowadays. They get bolder and bolder every year, particularly network tv, which is free for anyone to watch. Even when you watch a good, wholesome show you are bombarded with filthy advertisements. Am I the only one who feels this way? And what can I do to stop the filth from getting on tv? Just taking tv out of my home isn't enough, it's still out there for children to watch.
 
I don't feel helpless.

If I see something offensive, I can always click the "OFF" button on my remote.

Or I can change the channel ... HGTV and Animal Planet are usually safe!

Kids are exposed to much worse than what's on TV everyday at school. Best thing to do is to raise kids properly and teach them what's right and what's wrong ... there's no way to protect them from what goes on in the world, and I feel that it's better to discuss things than to turn a blind eye and pretend the ugliness isn't there.

It's why I DVR pretty much every thing I watch. I don't see many commercials anymore.

Believe it or not, some people like that trash. They want to watch it and they're adults. Who are you to crusade and tell them what they can and cannot see?
 
Then why watch it? Most commercial television, commercials included, is designed for the lowest common denominator of human intelligence, sub-human in the case of Fox. It is not just filth, but also stupid and vulgar much of the time
There are other things to do in this world besides watching rubbish on TV
