Do you ever experience spooky occurences such as this?

The clock in our lounge had been losing a lot of time for a few weeks and needed its batteries replacing. However due to the Christmas snow we didn't get round to buying new batteries.

Just after New Year, when the clock was ticking about 3 or 4 hours in every 24 hours, I got up and it was exactly the correct time - to the minute.

My husband was away for two days down south on business at the time, so he didn't change the batteries. Neither did I. The only other person in the house is our two year old daughter, who certainly didn't change the batteries and adjust the time on the clock, which is over 5 ft high.

At first I put it down to the fact that the clock will always at some point display the correct time. However it continued to display exactly the correct time (to the minute) until today, when we arose at 6am, and the clock displayed the time at 1.18, and has been slow again ever since.

So why did it catch up and display the correct time, with no outside help, and keep that time for two and a half weeks?

Nobody had access to the clock except me. (And it's not me!)
