We all,
Ride merry-go-rounds;
And they are truly merry,
When they go around.

But when they stop,
And you get to see;
What life could be like,
Do you like what you see?

For these images,
Are merely a flash;
When you ride that pony,
Going round in a dash.

For when you are moving,
Even if it’s around;
You don’t see the whole picture,
The sky and the ground.

People give you nice things
And say you are great;
But do they really know,
That your mind and heart ache.

That to you they are actors,
In a show you detest;
They can not hear the pounding,
Which comes from your chest.

That to be true to your self,
Is all you really need;
Not their world of lust,
Politics and greed.

Empty minds fill void vacuums,
Nothing ever gets done here;
The merry-go-round keeps going,
They all laugh and they cheer.

For when they are moving,
They can not ever see;
That which they are missing,
So dear to you and me.

And why do they wish
To stay on this ride?
Because life is filled with choices,
And you must decide.

Because life,
Is filled,
With choices,
And you,
Must decide.

Whether you are the one,
Who has what it takes;
To step down off that ride,
And put on the brakes.

And decide to live your life
The way you want it to be;
Trusting yourself,
And your destiny.

And don’t think they wont stop you,
From leaving the cheer;
They’ll beg and they’ll plead,
“Its safer on here.”

But you, you shall know better,
Than those going round;
You will know when,
It’s time to step down.

And when you do,
Just listen to your heart;
It will tell you what to do,
Where to go and how to start.

And if destiny to you,
Is a daughter or son;
Give them love and encouragement,
To so do as you’ve done.

And if they ever get caught
On a merry-go-round;
Just lift them right off,
And put their feet on the ground.
