Do you blame the media[20 chars]?

I blame the media.
I blame the media for only reporting the bad and nothing good.

You have nancy grace running around reporting things into the ground and then making it sound like you couldn't swing a dead cat and not hit a child predator...she makes it seem like they are more of them than there are starbucks and theres like 4 in a block in my town.


I think the world is going to go into a horrible direction if the media doesn't balance out what they report...
They have to show some good.
And Nancy Grace needs a leash.

What do you think?
Do you think they are making an accurate portrayal of what society is like or do you think they are making their reporting better for the sake of their jobs?
 
well, negative energy typically draws more attention than positive energy.
search the Y!A archives.... there are tons of questions posted about how people just hate when parents get on here and brag about their children.
Seems to serve as an accurate indicator of the public psyche on the whole.
 
Unfortunately, Americans do not give the media many good things to write about. If they only wrote about good things, the paper would not be thick enough to wrap the garbage.
 
A little of both. I actually like Nancy Grace and she is a bit extreme, but I still enjoy her show. The truth of the matter is, you can't trust anyone and I think shows that capitalize on that are good. It's teaching people.

A few days ago, they reported on a mother that had run away with a convicted sex offender and brought her young child with her. I was shocked!! I couldn't believe people actually do these things. But, it's showing you what kind of people are in our society. You may not believe in doing that, but what about your neighbor or someone who may be in close contact with your child.

I'm also shocked to hear the missing children cases and then hear the reports that the neighborhood or surrounding areas/towns are home to 50+ sex offenders.

I don't live in a place like that. But, again, many people DO. That's scary and it makes you think about who's around you, in your neighborhood, the people your friends might associate with. It makes you think. That's good!
 
Just because you live in a town with only 4 doesnt mean the news is inaccurate. I live in the suburbs with 500k- million dollar homes and there are 68 predators within a 10 mile radius. They need to say this stuff in the news to make people aware of what is going on. Some news is over exaggerated but I think the important points (such as child rapists) needs to be exploited as much as possible
