Do we still get that tough exercising after Basic and AIT?

Yes, you still exercise. You PT five mornings a week in most units. It's just that you only go for an hour or hour and a half a day, instead of several hours like in Basic Training.

Im leaving for basic on May 18th for 88m and i know the exercising gonna be really really really tough. But i was wondering after we graduate from basic and ait. do we still get that tough exercise once we get to our unit. like the 5 mile run and all that cause i heard the 88m tend to slack off and bullshit around with no discipline. and i would still like to get that exercise in and im active duty by the way. :-) thank you.

The short answer to your question is YES. Your leaders will provide you purpose, direction, and motivation to keep up with your physical fitness levels. The army gives incentives for those soldiers that strive to score high on their physical fitness test (awards, promotions, days off, etc). Each unit has different ability groups to challenge each person. Each unit also provides a physical fitness training calendar so dont believe everything you hear - it is probably those losers that are telling you this because THEY slacked off. PT is all what you put into it. You will be the master of your own physical challenges.

Depends on you and the unit. From what I hear, you wont be forced to pushed yourself. You'll have to have the discipline to do that yourself.
