But demand is one of the driving factors in a capitalistic market place...the other being supply. Therefore if you restrict the amount of demand that you can create for a product, you are also decreasing the potential selling of that product.

figure say 10%? If we made a fixed % for all media there would be less need for Competition between different medias but they would need to be more discerning in what adverts they used , this would require more care by the advertising control boards .
My point being that it is adverts that drive the idiotic spending by those that cant really afford the rubbish they think they cannot live without.
Remember the ad people produce nothing ,only more demand
I would personaly be only too happy to see demand reuced for the absurd cheap junk products that seem to make up the bulk of imports now (even the 4x4 s)
A reduction in the Media would be heaven to me as most is just junk in the news sections anyhow (national funeral for jade ?) how sick to make a media event ofher approaching death.
2-4 i hope i am wise enough to choose where i get my news.
Nellie ,No we dont have to accept any rise in media , we did have enough media years ago 1960s and at least we could see the news clearly then , now all we see is what the ads people let them write . BE An adult say no.
Or are you a media junky.

I like the idea, in fact 5% would be better.

Studies have shown that aiming the marketing at kids is partly what is to blame for insecurities that lead to eating disorders, for example, and should be banned altogether.

And plus, the adverts on TV piss me off, they're starting to becoming longer than the shows!
