Ive got a ford 9 inch rear end that came out of a 1977 ford f-150 custom two wheel drive with a FMX transmission. I also have a identical truck, that is a four wheel drive with the 3.55 gear ratio's in both axles.
I would like to swap these rear ends for better gas mileage and a better top-end speed (the 460 stroker has PLENTY of pulling power with 28's)
The only problem is, i have been unable to find a ring/opinion kit for a dana 44 that is lower than the stock 3.55, and in some RARE cases, a 3.25.
What i'm wondering is, do they even make a 2.75 set for a dana 44? and if not, is it possible for me to take a 2.75 ring/opinion out of another 1977 Ford 9 inch, and put in a 1977 dana 44?
And if anyone knows the number of teeth on the ring/opinion on these sets, that might be helpful too. Thanks!
