Do they allow facial hair on passport photos?

I've just recently realised that when taking a passport photo they don't even allow you to smile as it kind of distorts the facial features even if just by a little bit. So here's just a random question:

Do they allow you to have facial hair on passport photos? Just wondering.
 
My husband has a full beard and moustache and has a passport. Plus has an American green card. So to answer your question, yes they allow facial hair on passport photo's.

They wouldn't make everyone shave. Beards are essential for some religions like Judaism, Islam and Sikh. We would have heard of it if it were a requirement.
