I was speeding and ran a red light when I was pulled over by two white male officers. They were handing me my ticket when they said my vehicle smelled of marijuana. I told the officers I had my cannabis card and they still told me to step out and proceeded to conduct a full scale search of my car. They found about 2-3 ounces of marijuana (I may legally hold 8 ounces) and then they asked me where my phone was. I was sitting in the back of the police car ( the outside was cold so they let me chill in the back where it was warm ) and my cell phone was in my car. They then took my cell phone and conducted a search through my phone where they found evidence of things against me. My question is, did the police have the right to search my phone without my consent and without a warrant?
