Do the new unlocked phones work for the wireless cell phone company Verizon? If so

which company works? i am thinking of getting a unlocked phone and wondering which company works. Also if the phone work does it work in the NY area?
is it possible if u can put which company has sim cards?
 
No, when a phone is unlocked you can use any sim card but since verizon doesnt use sim cards you cant use those phones
