Do the Marines and Army men respect what Matthew Hoh says about the Afghan war?

Highly respected former Marine Matthew Hoh says Afghan-Americans, active-duty military members have shown support
Hoh resigned after saying he didn't believe in the war, which was essentially a civil war
Hoh believes increasing troops is only going to fuel insurgency, not help the problems
Hoh says he believes insurgents are fighting U.S. because we are occupying their land.
 
I believe Mr. Hoh is a former marine so, yes, marines would respect what he says.

It isn't up to the Marines or the Army to decide what battles are to be fought. They fight the battles which are given to them by politicians.

It will always be true that some people will fight us just because we are there. The original purpose of fighting in Afghanistan was to defeat al Qaeda and bring bin Laden to justice. I don't know how we are progressing on either of these fronts. It may be time to reevaluate Afghanistan as far as our objectives and whether we want to continue supporting a corrupt government. I think that is why the current administration has taken so long in their assessment. Don't you think this is encouraging after the past 8 years of total incompetence?
 
From where I am from no because he quit because of the war I understand that but some people consider him a coward I respect what the man has to say but we can't do anything about it as soldiers we just follow orders not much you can really do.

I believe that he may be right and as news accounts have reported a brave Marine
