I am currently connecting my PC to my LCD TV through an HDMI cable. I cannot hear any sound coming through my LCD. I browsed around and it looks like I require an spdif cable that connects my vga card to my motherboard's spdif out connector. The problem is no computer store that I have phoned have a clue what I am talking about trying to explain this cable. So i am thinking, does the latest VGA cards still require this cable, because if they don't, I'll just rather buy a new VGA card than go through the torture of explaining the purpose of this cable again.
Do the latest vga cards require the use of an spdif cable for sound via HDMI?
