Sure some needed help in training, but once that was done they were all set. Heroes like Sonic the Hedgehog, Goku (dragonball), Batman, & Sailor Moon are so strong & always defeating the "Big Bad" that sometimes I wonder did they even needed help OR a team? Some look like they could've found a way to save the day on their own, as it seems today sidekicks are just the "tag-a-long" person or decoys for the minor foes.
In "magical girl" animes, the leader is the strongest, always in the spotlight, & comes from a good family. The others are not always lucky.
