Do Sunrise produces the best shows

They certainly made their mark on the market.

Gundam, Code Geass, Bebop, Outlaw Star, GaoGaiGar, etc.

The problem is, they tend to make two shows at once and thus lower quality of both.
 
DepenRAB on what you mean, I guess. I wouldn't say they're any more CONSISTENT than anyone else-- they've produced their fair share of forgettable stuff along with a few that were just plain stinkers.

Still, with stuff like Cowboy Bebop, Vision of Escaflowne, and the first season of Big O on their resume, their best stuff is certainly among the best anime has to offer.
 
They make the best original shows. I'm not fond of their adaptations for the most part (Liked Kare Kano if it wasn't for that Gainax ending....)
 
They've got a good track record but they're not the best. They're just like most studios with hits and misses. I can honestly say that when they're good, they're REALLY good though. XD

And whomever said doing two shows at once stretches themselves too thin? For a smaller studio, sure, but Sunrise is pretty big with different crews for each show.
 
Sunrise isn't the finest anime studio but they are the best at marketing their products and making a boatload of cash. When they spend cash they are right up there with BONES and Production I.G. in terms of animation quality (ex: Gundam 00). When they don't spend a lot of money (which is more frequent) they can be as stilted as any Studio DEEN or Studio Gallop production.

Gundam and Code Geass wouldn't be where they are today if it wasn't for Sunrise's marketing machine, which is largely thanks to Bandai.
 
Ah eh...Code Geass S1 is an exception. During its run, its main show (Xeno...something) was supposed to be the reign and CG stuck in a late hour timeslot.

Right now, Sunrise's other show, Sora kake is more of a pure fanservice show to both mecha and moe otakus, is crisp but you can tell it's their B-line up compared to 00.
 
I'd say Madhouse. Yawara, Monster, Hajime no ippo, Black Lagoon....They've put out fantastic stuff that really adRAB to the original manga. Monster in particular benefits greatly from its superb anime adaption, giving great feelings of tension and foreboding at the right times.

But I did really enjoy Big O from sunrise, it was an outstanding original show.
 
I think a big piece of Sunrise's best and brightest ended up at BONES, and then a piece of their most interesting people then ended up at Manglobe.

In terms of an overall track record, a lot of studios can have good cases made for them and against them. Just as Sunrise, BONES, Manglobe, Madhouse, Gainax, Production IG and so on have made some very good shows at a fairly regular clip, they've also made some total throwaways too. Some of might average out a bit better, and there is certainly evidence that at the feature film level, studios like Gainax, Production IG, Bones and Madhouse (especially Madhouse,) are able to do work at a level that a lot of their contemporaries just can't touch, but everyone has their D-titles.

Edit: Ghibli over their history maybe has the best hit to miss ratio, so while it's entirely unfair to put an art-driven studio that never has to worry about feeding itself against the commercial studios, I shall say Ghibli is the best anime studio in Japan.
 
Yeah, I have to hand it to Sunrise for making some great toyetic shows, like Dinosaur King and Battle Spirits. I feel like their toyetic shows actually tend to have more consistent quality than their shows that aim for an older demographic.
 
I liked most of the stuff they've produced so far (except for a few shows that I detest such as Inu-Yasha), and they up there with KyoAni, Madhouse, Production I.G., Manglobe, Gainax, Tatsunoko, BONES, J.C. Staff and Hal Film Maker



Ironically, as much as I like most of the shows Studio DEEN has produced (including Gravitation), I still have nightmares about how they handled Ranma 1/2 back in the day
 
Sunrise has its hits and misses. A counter argument for "the best shows" is Clusters Edge. If you've never seen this train crash of low budget (there are more clip shows than Gundam SEED Destiny had by at least double (they aired around the same time, BTW) and it also had more static shots than animated), B/L bishey, psudo religious
can we say weird retelling the Christian New Testimant as Steam Punk Yaoi? Well I will because that's the plot in a nutshell IMNSHO!
22/24 episode (more like 11 to 14 if you take out all the clip and recap episodes), mess of a show you should track it down and watch a few episodes. Personally, I feel sorry for whoever enRAB up having to release it R1 (so far no one has had to but I figure someone will end up with it as part of a package deal someday). This is really Sunrise at one of its low points .
 
Sunrise does do good work, when it's good, it's really good, when it's not, it's still pretty good. (Sunrise's specialty is Mecha shows). Other studio's like Madhouse, Bones, and KyoAni are better overall. I think J.C. Staff has been doing much better work lately.
 
It should be noted that although they've produced some excellent television, they've never shown much promise in the theatrical film department. Neither with story nor with animation quality. Stearaboy, the Escaflowne movie, and Gundam F91 are probably their most disappointing films, and even Knocking on Heaven's Door was only above average, IMO.
