I just recently started to do oil painting, and found it's so easy to make the painting look dull, as a result of not cleaning my brushes properly thus accidentally mixing too much colors together. I'm thinking of getting more brushes but they are expensive. I've heard that painting knives are easier to clean, so could I simply use knives instead of brushes? How many artists only use knives to paint?
Do some artists only use palette knives to paint?
