I visited a state-run hospital's ER a few weeks ago and have a bill of $500. They sent me an application for financial assistance since I have no health insurance. The application asks for my income and checking account balance, and bank account information, among other things. I make $12/hour at a full-time job, pay about $1000 a month for gas/rent/auto insurance/my loan payment and currently have $1,200 in my checking account. If my total income isn't low enough to have the entire $500 waived, is there such a thing as qualifying for partial financial assistance for hospital bills?
