Do people who say they don't want government run health realize it already is?

Long story short: Medicare/Medicaid set the standards for reimbursement methodology, a baseline for reimbursement amounts, documentation, medical necessity. Health care standards (cleanliness, procedural apppropriateness, operational safety) is overseen by state health agencies. Also, we are supporting our troops by letting the VA take care of them. No one is demanding it be scrapped, and that our vets get something better, no matter what the cost. So, why are people all of sudden acting like a government option is some new involvement of the government in health care? Why do they think corporate execs who are after huge bonuses are more interested in their well being?
It's not an issue of who has what insurance, the users of the health care system are Medicare and Medicaid. I have worked in health care admininstration for years, the facility with the lowest Medicare utilzation was 60%. Highest was 80%. It's what most of the industry lives off of.
