Do people realize restaurant servers are, in fact, servants?

It's nice to live in a time and country in which working- and lower-middle class individuals can be provided a servant's service, isn't it? Americans are so wealthy and privledged and many don't even realize how lucky they are.
Mark - it's quite the opposite. Tipping is NOT an odd practice. It's your job to pay your server for their service. That's why many states have a special, even lower minimum wage for servers. I'm not even sure the point of restaurants paying servers at all as they are merely a hosting place for the servers to provide their service.
