Jeeps are pretty popular in California, especially rural and middle income neighborhoods in Southern California.
More often, though, you'll find either big hardy workhorse trucks and SUVs (Toyota Tundra, Ford F-1/2/350, Chevy Avalanche or Silverado)-- often taken out to the hills or desert by their owners) or luxury SUVs like Range Rovers, Cadillac Escalades, and Lincoln Continentals owned by the obscenely rich. This latter category never goes beyond the wilds of the local shopping mall.
