My husband will likely be getting a medical retirement or discharge (disability through the VA) from the Army soon. He has been told by his doctors that it is on the way but I am curious about what all is going to happen. To my understanding it can sometimes take quite a while for benefits to begin. So how long after the paychecks stop coming from the army for active duty will he start getting the pay from the VA or the Army for retirement? Also, I know that for a price with retirement our children and myself will be eligible for Tricare medical and Delta dental but what is offered with the VA as far as medical and dental benefits are concerned?
