Recently, I heard of this controversy over Nike and the name of Allah on a show. My first thought was, wtf. Was a Nike employee being an asshole, or a plant supervisor? I couldn't imagine that corporate would have a line of shoes with that name on them. (the Allah line of shoes. their the greatest) lol.
Oh well I did some further research and found that It wasnt Allah at all. It was AIR wrote really elaborately. It didnt look like ALLAH at all. It wasnt meant to and Muslims had to know it was not intentional. Nike Corporate doesn't worry if their english lettering may resemble a word in another language.
I did some further research and muslims complained about many things saying allah. Well the arabic allah is cool but almost any kind of swirly lines can look like the arabic script for allah. They bitched about a ice cream swirl. now a fast food chain had to recall because of muslim bitching. whats next? why should we have to worry if what we write in english may resemble something else in arabic?
