No not usually. It is very hard to imagine someone else during sex for a man. It would take a lot of effort especially everyday. Most men do their imagining when they masturbate. Try talking to him, but instead of asking him if he is imagining someone else, try to ask him what his fantasies are. Maybe tell him there is something you would like for him to do, that way he feels comfortable to tell you. He might like for you to dress up or role play or what have you.
