Will they avoid completely reading the old and new testaments , critically considering the contents, and objectively doing the necessary historical research to determine for themselves the veracity of the stories therein.
COMMODOR ROONEY;--- most famous and high profile thinkers and scientists don't want to risk being responsible for a lot of ignorant people loosing their "faith", and going hog wild.
So they go along with the Christian majority in spite of their private atheistic conclusions .
And my question remained a question throughout. Is this an example of careful reading?

An adult can be moral and upright without the promise of reward or the threat of punishment.
It's called doing the right thing for the right reason.
