do law enforcement agencies communicate with each other regarding hiring?

if you get fired or disqualifed from one law enforcement agency can go to the other. i was watching this show where a cop in texas got fired and went to another texas law enforcement agency and got hired.
 
This is entirely possible, especially in the South and West. Small towns are so desperate for academy trained cops, that they hire with a rudimentary check of your work history. Besides the agency which fired you, is not allowed to say much, as they could be sued.
 
Typically they do communicate with one another. Just like in any field, they need to use a reference from their last employer.
