I'm from north africa and i can clearn this up for you. I'd also like to add that I went to a catholic school that was majorily Italian and my class had about 20 whites-5 blacks and 6 spanish. Of the 20 whites only 1 that I can remember was not Italian(irish). The rest where either half-italians italians from argentina, or full. I had a Sicilian teacher and sicilians in my grade and school.Sicilians do have black ancestry, they do not look black like me or you but they clearly are distinguishable from other whiter europeans. I live in a Canada so people don;t tan much either especially in the winter. The typicall sicilian has the skin color of a light skinned mexican or indian person, pitch black hair, and they have more african looking facial features. They don't really look black, but there noses are more round than straight and there lips or much more thicker than the typical brown haired Italian.I don't know if all Italians are mixed but ones from south italy most definetely are.From a historical perspective I can tell you the issue on moors is not so clear cut. See the first wave of africans to enter into italy where those lead by hannibal and jugartha from north africa. They invaded Italy, spain, france, portugal, etc. Like all wars back then rape was common so many people from portugal, spain, and south italy and south franc hav black ancestry. However, there is a constant influx in these countries of people from the north moving south, so the white phenotype is much more common.Don't consult wikipedia on any issue of race, the typical wikipedia user is a 20 year old immature white kid posing as a college professor if you rememeber that story.The next wave of africans into europe was when the romans and greeks conquer north african coastal areas. When this happen millions of african moved to rome as discrimination in rome was based on how roman you were (how close or far you lived from rome-city). This is why rome had a dynasty of black emperors known as the severan dynasty in addition to another single roman emperor who was black from syria known as Pescennius Niger, who ended up getting killed by severus, see black on black crime is like 2000 years old, LOL.Anyways the next major thing was that countries started to convert to islam and began invading christian countries. I can tell you for a fact that there are very few arabs in north africa besides egypt. Any good source will tell you that these so called arab people are really just a mixture of african, greek, roman, and turkish (the conquering coountries).So pretty much the moors who were all black invaded europe and mixed race. Even until this day southern italians are looked down upon by their northern counterparts for this reason. This is also the reason why Spainiards, Portugese, and Italians were never seen as white people in history even in america until after ww2. The portugese were classifed as negroids in canada up until the 1950s and were forbidden from immigrating. However in eastern europe they are mixed with west asian or arab people far more heavily than western europeans,this is why their skin is so dark and hair in comparision to their western counter parts.The way how North african countries became arabs is really quite simple. North africa was colonized by the Ottomans after the moorish invasions for hundreds of years. Egypt was controlled by the ottomans for 800 years! When the Ottoman empire collapsed in north africa millions of people who were of mix race and muslim religion were left without a racial identity. The europeans to the north were considered white and the africans to the south were black. They do not look enough like eieteher to really say they are one or the other and this where the arab identity comes from.In algeria for example, my country, there was not one single arab community up until the 1800s. When the founder of our country went to saudi arabia he came back an declared that he was a direct descendent of muhhamd(the prohpeht) and that therefore all of algeria was arab. The ottomans and forigen forces only invaded the coatsal regions of north africa as the interrior is harsh and doesn't have any major resources except oil which was useless in the 1300s.I was sitting at a table with an egyptian and a persian. The persian girl told the egyptian she is not arab, she tried to deny it at first but them ultimatelty conceeded that egyptians were indeed a mixture of ottoman's and blacks with a bit of white(greek and roman).
