Do idle control valves act funky at times ? (2002 Cadillac Deville 135,000 miles)?

About once a week, my car will stall at stop lights/stop signs. Now it is important to know that this is VERY consistent... see notes... it has been doing this for about 2 months...

1) It ONLY stalls at stop lights about once a week.

2) It has a little trouble starting after it stalls, but will start if I press on the gas a little bit. I suspect it is because the throttle is closed and the idle control valve is shut, therefore no air is getting in, until I press on the gas to open the throttle just a little to compensate for the closed idle control valve.

3) It only stalls when the engine is warming up (never when it cold and never when it is nice and hot). In other words.... it only stalls at stop light after the engine has been running between 2 - 5 mins. Once it passes 5 minutes it never stalls.

4) When it does stall... sometimes it takes as long as a min to get it started again. BUT once it starts... it has never stalled again (on the same day).

I suspect a flakey idle control valve or a flakey temperature sensor. I am thinking about cleaning out the throttle body and clean the idle control valve. If that doesn't not work, then I plan to replace the idle control valve and the throttle position sensor.

Am I thinking in the right direction ? Any other suggestions ?

NOTE: I seriously doubt it is the camshaft sensor or the crankshaft sensor because if they were bad they would cause the car to stall at various times, but since it it ONLY at stop lights (idling) then it has to do with idling when the engine is warming up.

NOTE#2: I also doubt it is the fuel pump, filter, or the fuel pressure regulator because again it only does this when idling. Besides I replaced the filter and fuel pressure regulator last year as preventive maintenance.

OH !! another thing... there are NO ERROR CODES... NO service engine soon light...

Thanks for any help !
