I have had my hair dyed in the salon many times, blonde about 5 times. Then recently I got it dyed dark brown. I have had red dye on my hair before as well. I was wondering if it is really necessary for me to do a patch test on the skin for allergies when using an at home hair dye kit? I really don't think I'm allergic to hair dyes because after having used blonde, brown, and reds I haven't had allergic reactions once. So yeah, is it really necessary to hair dye patch test on my skin? The hair dye is Garnier 100% in Volcanic Red (dulce maria's tint!) if that helps.

NO- I think you would have had a reaction by now! LOL!! I've been a hairstylist for 8 yrs. and I'm sure if you were allergic, you would know by now. Good luck!

Honestly I never do. If you have very sensitive skin and are often allergic to lotions, perfumes, etc. then yeah you should probably do the patch test. But since you haven't had any problems with any other hair dyes then I'd say you should be fine. Not you scare you or anything but if you DO end up being allergic to the die then you could have a really bad allergic reaction and have all you hair fall out (sorry lol I was reading some HORRIBLE stories about allergic reactions to hair dye). But really, you should be fine. Good luck :]
