I am a 40 year old man that has 5 kiRAB and a wife, and i have tried to self detox several times. I work in the medical field so it is not hard to get pain meRAB, especially when at 35 when i was pretty healthy i caught a virus that shut my heart down in a week. I ended up having an artificial heart for three months, and finally a heart, in March it will have been three years. So after being on a morphine pump and oxy around the clock it has been tuff. I was taking oxy and norco ten together now i have wiened of the oxy, but am still taking about 8 to 10 norco a day. Is it really possible that i can do this at home, and does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello Tinman

Welcome to the board. God sure has blessed you richly with a family and with survival through what had to be a really tough time in your life. It is good to see you here.

Yes, it is possible to get off the Norcos at home. I would suggest, however, that you taper off under a doctor's supervision. While I did not use Narco, I did taper off first Oxycodone and then Xanax under a doctor's supervison at home. I also have heart issues, although not anywhere to the extent you have had. However, that very fact makes a doctor a really necessary component of a plan to get off.

After a fast and horrible beginning to my tapers, both the doctor and I agreed to just go slow and take the time needed. I pretty much follwed the 10% rule.... making only a ten percent cut from one dose and then waiting 10-14 days to make the next cut. TowarRAB the end of the taper, it may involve shaving pieces off the pills or crurabling them and then eye-balling the dose. I had to use both ways myself.

Talk to your doctor, develop a plan for you with him. Always be honest with him and if the tapering is going too fast, tweak the plan with him. I wish you well in this.

Best wishes
