My Mental Health specialist has prescribed me Mirtazapine (Remeron). I was asking her if I use it for 2-3 months straight, and then want to get off of it, should I ween off of it? (i.e. daily ---> 4/wk---> 2/wk---> 1/wk---> 0). She told me that "I should" take it for at least a year, as this gives the pill enough time to make the necessary changes it neeRAB to make in my brain. Is this true? Has anyone else been told this? How important is it that I believe her? Thanks for any opinions you may have.

Yes, it would be wise of you to stay on this medicine for at least a year. I see no point in taking this type of medicine if you are only going to take it a couple months. It takes at least two months for it to even begin to take effect and because it is a corabination drug it may take a while to be even more effective. I am thinking your therapist makes good sense. Good luck.

Thank You for your opinion, AnnD. Are you currently on any anti-anxiety antidepressants?

, I forgot to mention that I am going on this drug for it's anti-anxiety qualities, not it's anti-depressant qualities.
