I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee,6 cyl.The metal fuel flap inside where you put the nozzle in for when you get gas fell into the gas tank. Its only about the size of a quarter.I was told 2 different stories about getting it out of the gas tank.
One mechanic said i need to replace the fuel filler tank that runs to the gas tank as well as dropping the tank to get it out?If i dont,he claims it could get stck in the fuel pump or filter and clg it causing my jeep not to run!
The other mechanic says hes wrong and i can live with it because the metal flap will just float to the bottom and wont cause problems. He said the worse case scenario is that in the future if i replace the fuel filter they can do it then?
But for now,its ok.The car runs grat anyway!
Who is right?Do i really need to get it fix as soon as possible?:
