Do I need to replace BOTH of my Jeep's axles?

Ok, so here's the rundown:
I have a '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 with 135K on it. I don't off-road and really don't drive long distances (10-20 miles at most). I live in Denver (VERY dry climate). My dad and I have been the only owners and we've taken great care of my Jeep.

In 2005/2006 I replaced both front axles. I took my Jeep into the mechanic today for a check-up and was told that the right axle seals are leaking and that the front differential needs to be removed in order to replace the front axle seal. They also said that since the differential needs to be removed, they recommend that BOTH front axle seals need replacement.

So here's my question: Do I really need to replace both? Parts and labor for this total $660. I've heard that front axles are a common issue in dry climates (this year/make/model of Jeep especially).

Any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated!
Also, in trying to save money, if someone could let me know what parts this repair requires and the best/cheapest place online (or in Denver) to buy these parts, let me know. Thanks!
