I've just had a letter advising they'll be giving me back in total over ?4000.00
On the letter it states "You should note that included in this total redress offer is an element of gross interest. Subject to your personal tax status this may be taxable and should be included in your tax return"
I work full time within a private corporation who deal with my taxes ETC automatically.
I'm on ?23,000 P/Y before tax and before bonuses.
I don't want to ring HM Revenue and customs yet...
Any help would be great
Thanks for your input Pamela
The tax they've paid back is in total ?967.31
How much tax would I have to pay on this?
Actually I just filled in this checker.
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/calcs/r85/
It told me I dont have to pay tax
"Result - The Income you have shown on the checker is more than your tax allowances. Please do not fill in the form R85."
Have I done something wrong or is it correct?
