i have a '99 nissan sentra with over 160,000 miles on it. i do not intend to have this car for more than another year, if it lasts even that. i recently had to replace the catalytic converter (a $$$ job) and was even more recently told that the cause for my check engine light being on is that i need an O2 sensor replaced. i asked how necessary this is, as i have a mechanic who would allow it to pass inspection with this issue. i was told that it could ruin the catalytic converter. i am wondering if it could do much damage if i am only planning on keeping the car another year. the thought of putting more money into this car kills me. any opinions?
