Do I need the software cd to use the lg arena on my computer?

I bought an unlocked lg arena on ebay, but it didn't brought the cd software. I plugged it to my computer(Vista), the phone battery charges, so I know the usb is working, but the computer doesn't recognize any usb. I need help
