Do I need the front sway bar on my 1989 ford F-150 4x4. It has a 4" suspension lift?

I just bought it and the sway bar looks like it has extensions added on to it. they could only bolt it to 1 of the ears of the shock tower. The drivers side ear has broken off leaving only 1 side of the bar connected. Plus it looks like both sides have been hitting the shocks.
