do i need a windows operating system disk to run boot camp?

i have a windows vista disk that is a UPGRADE only disk and wont do a clean install is there anyway i can get boot camp to work on my mac without a windows disk or is there someplace where i can get a patch or whatever to get the upgrade disk to work
