do i need a student visa to attend an educational summer camp in the usa?

i'm from the uk, and i'm attending a camp for three weeks in the summer. you don't get any credits or a certificate/diploma of any sort, i'm just pursuing an interest of mine (ethics). we've already gotten a tourist visa, but we're not sure if i also need a student visa. i'm also visiting a friend for the week prior to attending the camp.
