Do i need a double din or can i use a single for a 2000 ford excursion?

I am getting a new head unit for my 2000 ford excursion and the size on onlinecarstero.com says its a double din. I dont want to get one that has a dvd player and its hard to find a double din that doesnt have dvd or gps. I just want a basic head unit that plays cd's and has an auxilary jack. Do they have kits that can have a single din when the stock head unit is double din.

yeah they make a mount kit that will take up a double din space while you use a single din
