Do I have what it takes to be an author?

I'm NOT writing a book. I'm still in high school. I'm just interested in writing along with other things. I always have the highest grades in my English class, and I usually get high A's (97-100%) on writing projects.

Here is just a sample. Tell me if writing may be in my future (this is satire):

Once upon a time, there was a lovely maiden who lived in the most squalid, filthy, derelict house on 2nd Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. The doors of this dowdy, grey house were oscillating on their hinges. She didn't live here alone, oh no. The rats and roaches kept her company. The king of this "castle" was always away, working. He never strayed too far, always staying within the boundaries of Brooklyn, New York. What he did exactly, no one knew, not even his daughter, Princess Aryana.

Aryana had enough conundrums to fret about without having to consider her father's whereabouts. She fretted about where her next meal was coming from, which rags she would wear tomorrow to school, when her homework would be due, and what she could possibly do to escape from this Hell called home. Aryana may be many things (worrisome is one of them), but what she was not is stupid and ignorant.

She comprehended what she must execute to escape. She made plans, and none of those plans involved princes coming to rescue her from the highest room atop the highest tower in her castle. She didn't believe in fairytales.

(This isn't the whole story. Just a little sample, remember. If you feel that it's incomplete, then I'll write more, but, I think I can end it here)
