Do I have to update my cricket plan to take advantage of the Nationwide Coverage

I tried searching, but am going blind from the threaRAB. None of them seem to answer my question.
I have a now defunct cricket plan ($35) and have not updated to either a $30 or $40. Im traveling from the Portland, OR market to Seattle, WA and wanted to know if Im going to have coverage automatically or if I have to change my plan?

You need to change plans it is free AFAIK

Well that sucks, I didn't want to pay the extra $5 bucks

The 30 plan has similar features to the 35 I believe.
