Do i have to split my training every time i go to the gym ?

The Question is that i train 4 times a week.. chest, shoulders, legs, Back... for every single day !?
But some people say that's wrong where i have to divide my training so that every parts of my body have a day each, for example 1st day: Chest, 2nd day: Legs ... etc

Is that right? and what is the Consequences?
