I'm unsure how to go about this since i'm barely starting a business, but here it goes. I live in the state of Texas and I am about to start a diesel mechanic business, at my shop. I just got set up directly with a motor oil manufacturer and will be buying motor oil in drums and i will be paying sales tax on it. Now, all i will be doing is servicing engines and general mechanic type work and providing oil free of charge to customers with any engine i have to work on when it comes to either rebuilding/ removing heads/ gaskets/ cam shaft/ etc. which brings me to this, the motor oil manufacturer asked me if i have a sales tax certificate and i said no. It got me thinking and worried that if i buy from them and i pay taxes on their product when purchasing from them, Do i need to pay a sales tax to comptroller?
