I got into an accident yesterday and it was my fault, I hit his car, so I got the most minimal coverage on car insurancefor liability/property damage of $10000, so if that person's car repair cost exceed $10000, do I have to pay him the cost beyond $10000?
I hit a 08" Chevrolet Impala, he mentioned heavy suspension damage, and the car was towed away

If he had collision insurance, collision insurance will cover the damage, so he may not come after you for the rest, although he may decide to do that, but I assume he had collision insurance and since you had the state's required insurance, you are in a fairly good position and luckily no one got hurt. He will be out his deductible and he may want you to pay that. I am sure that if he does want the rest of the money, he will o.k. payments in increments (don't have to pay it all at once)

yes, i hope you didn't hit a Bentley, lotus, Ferrari or other really expensive car. i have liability of $300,000.00 and even that may not cover me in all situations. the extra coverage is cheap and the risk or price you pay by not getting it could wipe out everything you have: house, car, savings, your wife's: house, car, savings. in a law suit the lawyer goes after all the money even your spouses.
