Do I have to live in California to get a CA Motorcycle license?

I have a valid drivers license in NJ, but go to school in California. I am 19 and am wondering if i can get a CA motorcycle license using my current school address (where i live 9 months out if the year), or do i have do become licensed in NJ, because that is where my permanent residence is?
