long story short,
My children and I have been summons to a different state. they have no jurisdiction over us. do we have to go?
its an emergancy summons for return of children and the childrens home state is with me and only stayed with their father for the summer.

I'm not trying to be rude but you need to get a lawyer and stop listening to all the know-it-alls on here. Nobody on these boards knows the intimate details of your case and can decipher the summons to you.

Let me put it this way...Get a lawyer or risk loosing your kids!!

Need more info. What is the nature of the summons?

If you do not go, the least that will happen is that the court will likely grant summary judgement to the other party and you will just lose the case by default.

Be careful about your assumption of jurisdiction; that is a very fluid thing.
