do i have to go to court for a bicycle ticket?

Well i got got a $10 ticket for not having a backlight on my bike about 3 months ago.
I got a letter saying i didnt have to go to court and i could pay online or by check.
I paid by check right away.
Today i got a letter sayong i have to pay $800 something for not showing up to court.
I had thrown the letter away so what now ?
help please??
oh yea and i just found out my check didnt go through:(
 
You got the letter today and threw it out? Been riding without a helmet again?
Well since you don't have the info contact the ticketing authority and show them the cashed check so they can correct the clerical error.
If you do not have the cashed check go on line with your bank and get a copy electronically, you need a copy of both sides of the check.
 
You can contact your bank, they will have a copy of the canceled check. The day they deposited it will be on the back, and you will be in the clear.

If the check did not go through, it is your responsibility. If it was an honest error, the court may take that into consideration and drop it to the original amount.
